Edmonton Club Picks Officers

EDMONTON, Alta., Jan. 1—The Edmonton Baseball Club Ltd., was formed Tuesday night [Dec. 30] at a meeting of interests who were successful in gaining a franchise in the Class A Western International League for 1953.
John Ducey, leading figure in Edmonton Baseball for years and lessee of the city's Renfrew Park, was appointed general manager and one of the club's 21 directors.
Brant Matthews, retired Edmonton hotelman who has been a leading financier of city baseball clubs, was elected president.
Other officers are Cecil Ross, first vice-president; Harry W. Maddison, second vice-president; Ken Samis, secretary; Al Ernst, treasurer; and Brian O'Hanlon, business manager.
Ducey said the directors approved purchase of canvas tarpaulins to cover dirt playing areas. Cost will be about $1,700.
