SPOKANE, April 17 — The Spokane Indians pushed over two runs in the ninth inning Friday to edge out the Lewiston Broncs 4-3 in a pre-season game between the Western International League rivals.
Fred Downing Signs With Edmonton Club
LONG BEACH, April 17—Infielder Fred Downing of Long Beach signed a contract Friday with Edmonton of the Class A Western International League.
Downing, who played for Holy City High School in 1950 and at City College in 1951, trained in Compton with the team and left with them Friday for Canada.
Outfield Vet Goes to Esks
EDMONTON, April 17—Signing of veteran outfielder Andy Skurski was announced today by Edmonton Eskimos of the Western International Baseball League.
The 33-year-old Skurski was with Colorado Springs of the Western League in 1952. Before that he played for Toronto in the International League in 1950 and for Hollywood in the Coast League from 1947 to 1949.
