Meeting of Minors Underway

May Name W.I.L. Head Today;
Rumor Vanni To Be Replaced
[Victoria Colonist, Dec. 2, 1952]
There was no Western International Baseball League news yesterday from Phoenix, but an important league meeting is scheduled for this morning.
Chief business at the meeting is expected to be the selection of a full-time president. Further news is expected from the player draft, which is almost certain to see several W.I.L. players picked up by clubs in higher classifications. Victoria players who make get a chance in higher company include Ben Lorino, Jim Clark and Bob Moniz.
In attendance at the meetings and looking for managerial jobs are Bob Sturgeon, former Victoria manager, and former W.I.L. managers and players Larry Barton, Rupert Thompson, Dick Adams, Bill Schuster and Charlie Gassaway. Among the many rumors was a report that Vancouver Capilanos have decided on a successor to manager Edo Vanni, who, apparently, is not to get a contract renewal.
