Caps, Eskimos Add Players

UNDATED, March 15—Lanky Jim Wert will have to battle for his first base job with the Caps this spring.
General manager Dewey Soriano announced Friday he has signed Ron Bowen, a free agent, who saw limited service last season with Grand Rapids of the Class “A” Central League because of an ankle injury.
In 1951, Bowen drove in 114 runs, his 25 home runs and batted .301.
Edmonton Eskimos added Duri Vital, a 26-year-old outfielder from San Francisco, who has been with Evansville of the class “B” Three-I League the past three seasons.
